Electric Windows (doing its own thing!)
« on: 10 March 2008, 11:59 »
Hey All,

I have had my drivers window open slightly recently for a bit of fresh air (and to listen to the Brrrb noises!) It has also been raining a bit recently so I have pressed the button to put it up and it has gone down about half way and stopped, not good when the rain is pouring in! When it goes down I cant override it so have to wait and then press it again to make it go up.

Anyone else had this?

Yip had this before:

Solution: Take to VW Dealer ans get them to reflash the CCM Computer/ Module.

Takes about 2 hours and MUST be free of charge. Its a safety issue and therefore no matter how old the car, must be fixed.

Nice one, Thanks. Its going in for its 30k service in 1k's time so I will get them to do this then. So will this also update the ECU with the latest version and make everything run a little better?

No.. Not all. The CCM computer also known as the Central Conveniance Module has nothing to do with the running of the car. Its simply makes sure that all the creature comforts and electronics work.

The ECU however is the engines computer. Most Gti's do get a reflash and update of that computer too which means that yes. The car will be so much smoother and you may find a slight power increase.

Hopefully that helps

By the way. After rereading your first post it might not be the CCM computer acting the goat. Usually when that computer is on the brink ALL windows would be effected and not just one. But its electronic so anything is possible.

If a reflash does not solve the problem they take the door panels off (and usually never put it on properly again) and check the wiring etc. Most common cause is a faulty window regulator which should be a quick fix.

Hope that helps

Mike
