new vr6, need help already!
« on: 09 March 2008, 16:54 »
i bought a vr6, which runs sweet as a nut. got it home and needed to do some welding so thought best to remove the battery. i duno whether this was needed, but i did it anyway just to be safe. now as soon as i put the negative battery line back on, the alarm/immobilizer goes off, and wont turn off via the key fob like it usually does?! pissin me off now and need help badly! any ideas?

I would say that the Key fob needs re-calibration with the car. I'm sure someone on here has the know how for this. I could be wrong though, but I can't think what else could cause the problem.

Bit strange that... sounds silly, but have you tried connecting the battery negative first then positive?

I assume the car is unlocked when you reconnect everything?

Will probably help to say what manufacturer of alarm you have too.

Can you reconnect everything & start the ignition? Or does the alarm just keep going?

That's a really bad idea mate. When disconnecting, always negative first. When reconnecting, always positive first. Failing to do this is dangerous and you could potentially short out the electrics in your car.
