Headlamp conversion ---- > insurance
« on: 07 April 2004, 18:30 »
Just been checking my insurance policy online and if I click "yes add modifications" to the policy... HEADLAMPS are not a modification cos their not listed...

Now, I wanna add the Hella quad smoked headlight conversion to my mk3 in June/July time... so I wanna make sure about the insurance before hand... so I got bored today and did it.

Now, it lists these as mods... does "headlights" come under these? if not... im guessing I just leave it, as its an online policy!

sounds like gestapo insurance ltd.
manufacturers optional extras as modifications!!!
replacing engine like for like a modification???
does cigarette ash in the ash tray list as a modification?
probably best to phone insurance company and check as they seem very extreme to me

doesnt mean it increases ya premium ... they'll probably replace the "mod" if u crash instead of putting the normal bit back on.

If u didnt tell them, they wouldnt replace it, they'd just give u the regular part back.

just seems excessive to me my partner has a bmw and the optional extras list fills a page, also how would you know if it was an optional extra unless you have the original sales brocures.

cos its usually obvious

SAT NAV for instance is an obvious option on a 1.4E Golf.

Alloys are an obvious option on a 1.1 Metro.

im sure the owners manual lists whats standard ... therefore u can see whats not standard.
