If you want an exact match to your original rolling radius i would speak to Elite in Rainham essex, these guys know there stuff and will tell you what tyres you need to keep the exact same rolling radius with 18's,
I believe you should have no problems with speedo and performance with 18's as R32's have 18's standard so should be ok,
Only when you go to 19's will you start to see a drop in performance as the rolling radius will go beyond your current set-up, the extra weight of the wheels will make a slight but i stress slight difference to the handling,
I remember in the old days when i banged a set of 17's on my old Punto GT Turbo, that made a big difference in pull away, but on the upside also gave me tonnes more traction. but 18's look the tits on Golf mk4's so go for it
