mk1 starting problems
« on: 06 March 2008, 18:12 »
hi guys i have a 1989 mk1 clipper cabriolet 1.8gli with webber carb fitted and in the mornings i have a real trouble tring to start the car i have heard they are bad to start anyway(manual choke) but this is really miffed me because the car will start perfectly when hot,  i have serviced the car and changed plugs and leads and when i did this i saw swarf in the inline fuel filter which prompted me to check the filler neck which has rusted, anyways i was going to try a new fuel pump but they are expensive what should i be checking for first? thanx!

have a look a the search function ;)

theres a lot in the mk2 section about carb problems, and it will  help you understand carb freeze etc.

Don't worry it happens to everyone!

Not sure about your issue, but replace the filler neck if it's rusty. It might not be your issue now but it might be further down the line. If it's ok from warm then is it likely to be your fuel pump ? I'm thinking not.
......now officially dubless.
