interesting VW fact
« on: 07 April 2004, 09:28 »
So we all know the Beetle was dreamt up by Hitler and designed by Ferdinand Porsche - prior to his company. But did you know that the VW company did come into being until the british government had tried to sell the design of the beetle to several british companies after the war, but because they had no takers, they had the Army involved in establishing a company in germany to build them - this company was called Volkswagen. Just one more thing we can thank the Brits for.......

I got another one - did you know the Mk1 Golf is still being produced in South Africa? It has a Mk3 interior, updated engine and brakes!

There was one at VWAction last year, its called the Citi Golf, but unfortunalty only comes in 5 door. Could you imagine how popular it would be in 3 door!!

I wouldn't say it had mk3 interior. more like a updated polo dash really. It's a pitty VW don't make a sweet car like the mk1 now. turning to the heavy cars boasting all their safety features.  ::)

you can hardly call it driving anymore
