Getting down pipe+sports cat
« on: 05 March 2008, 00:15 »
Ok i've gone and splashed out my hard earned for a downpipe + cat for my ed30. I'm running just generic bluefin, will the new parts affect performance in anyway without getting so called stage 2 map to accommodate the new parts?
Anyone know whensuperchips are launching thier new maps?
Cheers..

....I expect that Revo is similar, so: If the hardware (downpipe etc) is present, the remap will exploit it and deliver more performance than without it. You should get sharper throttle response either way. Milltek?

....Be aware that the original VW exhaust fixings are likely to be a bugger to undo! VAG cars are well known for their tight build.

The Milltek will usually take at least 1,000 miles to coke up and mature and may go through a 'droney' stage at around 3,200 revs for a while before maturing fully. Then it's perfect - Quiet at low revs and deep and throaty when working. Not at all boy-racer baked bean can and the best a 4-pot is capable of. V6 or V8 on Milltek is even better!!     - Five Star Cool!

I got an email from Superchips ages ago... like back in October. Here's what it says:

"Morning

You would need a custom map yes, however we will be working on different stages for our Edition30 fairly soon so you'd probably be best to wait for us to finish the next stage(s) of development before proceeding.

However, if you do buy the extra parts please contact us and we can have a look for you but it will need a re-map at £150 per hour for a minimum of 2 hours.

Michael."

Don't know what the case is now then. Will just have to see if the downpipe makes any more power, as with this the ED30 should be pushing close to 320-330bhp right?

....Just one reason I favour Revo over Superchips! I know a tuner who is agent for both and guess which he much prefers. Revo are far more thorough in their pre-release testing methinks.

I've already got the non-resonated GTI catback for my car. Just gonna fit the down pipe next week to the system. Got the DV and dogbone insert done a month ago too. Dogbone insert makes alot of difference for 25 quid.
