a very rare find..value?
« on: 04 March 2008, 16:39 »
I have inherited an immaculate - atlas grey 16v with 28k on the clock, inside immaculate too. Was garaged on  SORN for 12 years by my uncle who bought it brand new, the car is showroom as was under wool cover and started evey 3 or 4 months. I took the car on a trailer, had a full service inc timing belt  and discs, pads oil flush etc. etc and it flew through MOT. Original Continentals still on car, checked by quickfit and perfect, have now used it for four months only on dry days and no salt on roads. I may need to demolish my garage as extending and just wondered what the car would be worth to an enthusiast who would keep the car as it should be as its quite probably one of the best and original mk 2 gti 16valves in the Country. New to this forum, any advice appreciated, i am not selling the car, just after some advice.

Doesn't rubber denature over time?

Poor car. They were built to be used and enjoyed not stood doing f**k all.

Imo a high mileage car that's been used daily and cared for is far more special.

Sometimes peoples situations change Kittie, An this car is special, if it was 28k with full VW history then would be more, but its still worth a fair piece to the right person.
