Interest in upgraded headlight wiring looms?
« on: 04 March 2008, 10:51 »
A few of my friends are looking for these, to be honest I was totally surprised with the level of interest, I'm half thinking of making up a good few of them - anyone here want one? Double-relay versions so dipped beams and fulls are both improved. I think I can make them for around £25, the cheapest on ebay are £30. Stick your name down if you're serious!

It's pretty amazing to be honest. According to matey-matey you can lose 2.5v on the standard loom.

they work very well, i found my double relay one improved the full beam more than it improved the dipped beam, but none-the-less its much better all round.

my lights are no longer like candles! (esp with 100w all weather bulbs *cough*)

I don't think a semi will give the same results

Get your multimeter out and measure the voltage at your headlights to see how much difference it will make to you.  With the engine running there should be over 12V flowing from the alternator.  This means you shold have 12V at the lights.  I know some people have found they've only got 7-8V at the headlights.  That's only 66% of the power that the bulbs should have which is actually getting there.  While a 34% improvement is possibly over-egging it, 25% should be entirely possible (and very easy to spot).  Such a kit would also make it a lot easier to hook up spotlights, too.

If you're going to make up these kits semi-professionally you should really have either a professionally-written disclaimer, or professional indemnity insurance - getting blamed and sued for someone's car going up in flames could really ruin your day.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

I'd like one, but I'd rather make one than buy one.
I was thinking about making them in my spare time and flogging them on the bay, but I don't have much spare time

dizzie used to do them on here, and tbh, they were very good, although only did the dips.

They are definitely worth the extra cash, although you will start to be flashed by everyone on the road, as they will think you are on full beam.

Good crack.

Ha! I'm not selling badly focused HID kits here, just a way to get the full 12v to your lights. If people flash you with this it's because you've left your main beams on
