Close window and it reopens itself

Anyone else has this problem...

Open window, close with one touch, window gets to the top and then opens again stopping approx 3-4inches from the bottom, re-close and it does the same again - eventually you get it to shut and stay shut.

I noticed it first when I went to close the roof from the remote as it checks the windows are closed first which caused the problem and the windows to open - meaning I had to get back in the car to close it again.

I have had the problem before which the dealer replaced the window regulator so this is the second time - the problem being I cant remember which side was fixed last time and the dealer also doesnt know as the job card just says what got replaced.

My concern is if it was the same side is this a common fault and have many others had the problem?  I suppose either way if its the other side its still something that may happen to others.

As far as I can remember Im the only who has had this problem so far. So here are a few tests and solutions:

1. When using the one touch feature please put a tennis ball or your hand in the way. If the regulators are working properly the window should stop and move down again automatically. This is to protect little fingers etc. This test apparently proves that the regulators are working.

2. Have you ever locked your car, done the shopping and come back to find a few or all the windows slightly open? If so the car needs to be taken to the dealer to get the CCM (Central Conveniance Module) reflashed. This takes about two hours and basically they plug the car in and reload the software and this fixes the problem.

3. The easiest cause for the problem is tight door sills. Much like point number one the car thinks that there is a obstruction and automatically opens the windows again. Simply using your fingers pull the door sills slightly apart so they are not so tight.

To answer your questions... No its not a common problem. The electronics that control the windows etc are American and the software is German and the two clash sometimes. So I would suggest taking the car in and getting the CCM reflashed. And make sure they do it for free. Cos its free for them to do.

I have it booked in again, it is like it thinks something is in the way and I checked the rubber and it looks ok.  Its under warranty so I'll let the dealer check it out

Put a 3.2 V6 under your hood.... You will never want to close your windows again!!!

I also have this problem...when i want to close the window it just goes like half way up then back down again

Well. Its really not difficult. Do as Neg is doing and just get it reflashed.

I have this problem with my wife's Lupo GTI.  I completely forgot to get it sorted before the warranty ran out last Ocotber   :embarassed:  Bu tdid manage to get about £1000 worth of other work done a month before it expired    Had the rear spoiler resprayed, rear brake lights replaced, new shocks, new door card and some other stuff I can't remember.
