i hate the wifes golf gti

 i posted on here last year with a high reving tick over,which seem to rev by its self as well,i took some adivce and cleaned the following;
throttle body
idle valve
air box and pipes and checked for leaks
i replaced;
water temp senser
vac pipes
spark plugs
dissy cap
ecu relay
and have just spent 2 hours replacing crank/engine speed senser :cry:
well theres no change.any ideas,im sure ive read on here the idle valve should buz is this right,there not cheap so buying a new one if mines ok wont be best ever :angry:
its a mk3 16v abf engine,thanks gareth

throttle cable is not sticking,when the engine is reving high the throttle is closed and cable is slack,im thinking it might need an isv,all the ones on ebay dont fit mine :sad:

I would also get it attached to vag-com and see if any codes come up.... remember read the codes,erase, run for a few days and read again.. several people on here have this installed on a lap top and may beable to help or buy a cable from ebay and download the software

ive bought a cable and cd so we will see what it says when it gets here from hong kong,a new isv non vw is £180,a guy at the renault garage thinks it sounds like throttle body issue.the revs are all over the place when the butterfly valve is closed.so there must be the wrong information going to the ecu which effects the revs.

ISV should buzz yeah. have a check of the switch that the throttle cable stops on, spray some WD40 in there and snap the throttle shut a few times on it to make sure it's not sticking open. If it doesn't close the ISV won't monitor air on idle

air/vacuum leak somewhere - it doesn't take much....

Says he replaced the vac pipes up there oggy. Gareth did you replace all three 3mm id vac hoses?
