Spraying interior trim

Hi all,

I picked up a cheap center console off ebay as mine was cracked an in cruddy condition. However, when it was sent through, it wasnt in as good a condition as made out to be. Its useable, but needs tidying up, and I cant be bpthered sending it back (plus it was dirt cheap)

The biggest pain is that its had something screwed into it, and thus has 4 screw holes. Whats the best method of filling, sanding down and spraying for interior plastics?

Thought it would be a good weekend project, plus I plan to add some grey / silver stitching to the gaitor which came with it to match the anni trim I have.

Im a bit of a anovice when it comes to spraying stuff, but I have loads of patience - so advice on technique and matereials all greatly appreciated.

rub it down, use plastic primer, pick a top coat and then a laquer!



this is what i did in the bora, not the best pic but looks top in the flesh  :wink:

Cheers dude - although I am actually looking to rub down and spray the bit surrounding the gear knob and the bit that sits in. Just need an idea of what to use to rub down and spray with?

I have done this too, get different grades of wet and dry sand paper and then get some plastic primer, paint (colour of your choice) and some laquer!

better still go into halfords and grab (haynes vw golf the definitive guide to modifying) it costs 20 quid but its worth its weight in gold i spent hours serching the web trying to get a free manual and to be honest i could of spent it doing much more usefull things like wanking and sortin out my mk2.
In there its got every thing you need to know includeing interior painting,brakes,suspenstion,tinting,grill swop,lights,steering wheel,dash and speedos,wiper converstion,bumpers and loads of hany buying and servise hints...etc... step by step with louds of pictures for you lazy ones to stoned to read (me included)

Cheers guys. Iv'e pretty much finished what I wanted to do now....cars in for a service so as soon as shes back, will fit what I've done and post some pics. I'm quite chuffed with how the parts hav come out (just as long as I dont bugger them up fitting them!) lol
