That pic was taken last june lol when I bought the car.. I've cleaned it numerous times since.. I'm defo getting some clay and claying it, am i right in thinking claying the car is going to take hours?

My finger nail goes catch yeah :( i think it's down to the metal in places aswell.. im not sure if theres anything i can do but im willing to try..

I don't know wether getting a bonnet bra or something is the only other option bar a whole bonnet respray?

for a tiny insight on my poor car when i bought it have a look at http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=75610.0

im going to be updating this soon enough tho

tbh the money you'll spend on a decent bonnet bra you might as well get a professional to respray the bonnet for you... and you won't be called gay as a result!

claying won't take hours... here's the simple process

two bucket wash using a decent car shampoo & mitt - not sponge! making sure you get into the nooks & crannies, under window seals etc
dry, preferably using a waffle weave
clay using a megs or sonus clay bar and a detailing spray for lubrication
wash again
dry again
polish/wax - you have to reseal the paintwork after claying or it will be unprotected

the polish and wax part is another process entirely.. depends on budgets, finishes required etc etc

the clay part will add about half an hour to your normal cleaning... depends on how detailed you want to get though and how much you need to clean off... take your time with it

you never know you might catch the detailing bug and then you'll get OCD and be fcuked like me and some of the others!

lol yeah I'd like to start properly detailing, but the state my car is in atm is meaning i need to fix little bits of rust, touch up paint here and there etc  + I need some nice weather as I don't have access to a garage :embarassed:. That's another thing actually.. does it degrade detailing your car to perfection if you're just going to go and leave it outside?

I need to start updating my thread in the project section (linked earlier) too and put some pics up! so much to do! should be fun though

not in the slightest... mine lives outside

you'll be protecting your paintwork by waxing and sealing it properly... and it'll be easier to keep clean. means paintwork and glass will just bead water... half the time i don't even need to use my wipers when it rains!

although when you get OCD you'll not want to take it out on the road
