Cruise Control switching with Revo
« on: 28 February 2008, 14:57 »
Hello all - I'm fairly new to the forum but have been reading it for a few months - some excellent posts and interesting topics!
I have an Ed 30 which I'm looking to remap, however as the mrs also drives it I need to have it switchable from super fast to just fast!
I know Revo have a switchable feature, but that involves buying an extra control unit which you have to plug in and out.
A friend mentioned you can control maps from the cruise control stalk - can anyone confirm if this is possible with Revo or any other maps?
Or do I have to go with the Superchips map which I believe comes with the handheld switching unit included.

Thanks in advance!

I think APR and Revo both do switchable maps through the cruise control stalk, I think it is just a case of just inputting some sort of combination on the stalk and you can switch it between mapped and standard, the best and easiest way to do it IMO

Thanks Tom - that's great news!
I did the 5 hour Revo trial and have been hooked ever since - only thing holding me back was how to keep it secret from the mrs!
I noticed there is a remap sticky, however only one post on it at present. Shame as that kind of info is priceless and sharing is what it's all about!
I will add to it once I get my remap done...

Superchips Bluefin ain't the best if you want to switch regularly, you need to plug it in to the ECU port (just above pedals), then wait about ten minutes to switch maps. HTH.

Cheers Russ - I saw the module on the Superchips site - I guess the main bonus is you at least have some sort of control over the map.
I think I will go for the Cruise control option - only thing now is to get the cruise control retro fitted!
I've heard dealers can do this for around £100 - can anyone confirm please?

APR is switchable via the cruise stalk, Revo by the Select Switch (addtional) - Revo will not work via the cruise stalk just to confirm.

If going for Revo you could get the Select Plus which gives you the ability to alter the map accordingly, you can select boost and timing levels - although its recommended you read up what you are doing and dont just change willy nilly. There is a good Revo documents about with regard to the different settings.  You could also turn boost right down (i.e. Valet Mode) and also disbable the car with Revo switch.

Ok - So APR definitely works with the cruise stalk. Revo doesn't. Bluefin comes with the control module but the switch between maps takes 10 mins (so not very convenient).
So now what's the difference between APR and Revo and where in London can I get the APR map?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm keen to get the best set up for the car as it's a lot of money to spend!

Thanks in advance!
