New suspension....still problems
« on: 28 February 2008, 00:31 »
Well after having my new suspension sorted thaught all problems associated with it were over.....but not quite yet it seems

When turning left (doesn't happen when turning right) there seems to be a bang and sometimes a groan, sounds like the spring is banging or moving in its seat, thirstly is this possible..? can the spring move or turn if say a nut or bolt isn't tight enough..? secondly could it be anything else...? car drives fine otherwise and there is no rubbing or anything like that.

This problem only started since having this Jamex kit put on, nothing like this with the previous suspension.

Does the bang come from the front or rear? if its the front, it could possibly be your strut top mount bearing, or, if its the rear, you may have a knackered rear axle bush...

Its only a possibility mind....

Noise comes from the front, it only happens when i turn left, but its from the drivers side as when turning left the weight shifts towards the right side...what could the creaking/groan from the steering be..?

how big is the top coil and does it fit in the cup. i welded 3 tabs on the cup and folded them around to hold the spring in place -worked well -then wanted it lower so got the coillies

So nothing else could cause the spring to move when it is under load..? it only does it on the d/s/f.

Wish i had just braught the collies...but alas its too late and i can't afford to spend any more money so this has gotta be sorted on way or the other. Think i'll just try and find someone who specialises in aftermarket suspension and get em to sort it
