I would pick the 20V or ABF over a VR6.

ahhhh but the vr is soooo vdub - heavy, drinks petrol, and the sound!!!

i would prefer to have a 20vt, not many mk3's with them in.

its just sourcing one thats not so expensive. they are such sort after engines. I need to get the body all done, get my 1.4 through mot, get it insured, taxed, etc. then set my budget for a engine conversion and get rocking.

OK weekends here, so i will have some time available in the daytime - LIGHT!!! which means i can actually get some pics.

Done a sort of service so far

>>> fuel filter, oil and oil filter. Coolant. Spark plugs and going to do the pollen filter.

Well the oil breather was coughing up a lot of sh!t and smoking a lot. Still smokes and coughs up a little bit of sh!t. Although i will give a week to see if it will clear up after the service. Runs much better now with new plugs and stuff, seems to pull that little bit better.

Got my new (used) tyres on, only ns2's, which are sh!te, but are a much better size, 195/45 and give a little stretch. Plus they have 7mm tread and i got them very cheap.

So, got new tyres and the new alloys on, fixed the rubbage problems, so i reckon its time to lower it more! Just needs to go that bit more lower and it will look way better.

Also going to get some super redex stuff. like amazing awesome stuff you add to the oil, fuel WATEVA, to try and reduce the steam/smoke coming from the oil breather. dont think its head gasket, runs too well for that to be gone.

Going to get started on the bodywork soon, looking for matt paint now and also got an awesome idea for vinyls.....
looking for a dark matt blue, should look phat. although color is subject to change, but its probs going to be a dark matt paint.

so yeah piccies to come!

Here it is so far, havent cleaned it in a while, been sh!tty weather for so long now.

I have cambered the front wheels in as much as possible, looks way phat and handling is actually better.

AND... i have tested the tyres out in the wet weather and cant say anything bad about them. Nankang NS-2's, supposed to be budget tyres, etc, but actually not that bad! good for the money!

i also lowered it more, and rolled the arches (think i've said this already lol). all good cause of the respray, so need to do a bit more arch work to tidy them up, maybe flare them a little more and put 5-10mm spacers on to push the wheels out more. mmmm offset of like et10-15.......

looking at replacing one of the front arches due to corrosion and rust, etc. probs easier to fit new one in good condition rather than save mine.

also will need to look at upgrading brakes at some point, just trying to source parts now.

As said respray coming soon, working on smoothed bumpers at the moment and looking out for a new engine..............

more pics of the bumpers to come and bodywork, etc.

Nice work. Looks good.
I like those headlights actually, though perhaps the lower bit of the grill should be red.

cheers peeps, its coming along.

not sure about color coding grill and lights. might leave them as is, especially if its sprayed matt blue.

on the look for 1.8t i reckon. would be sweet.

btw, tested out the handling, etc properly today  the camber and coilies, wow! slammed it round corners and it held very well, minimal roll too.
