to sell or swap?
« on: 27 February 2008, 13:29 »
still have the really annoying need for a mk3 gti in the back of my head ...

my question is, I have two mk2 golfs (1990 1.6 Driver and a 1989 1.8 8v GTI) im in two minds to sell them or not. would there be much interest for a swap do you think? or would I be better off selling them both and buying a mk3 8v GTI?

thanks

I reckon you could find someone to swap, mk2s are more desirable in most peoples eyes.

you better not tell the mk2 boys that you're thinking about doing this!!!

you might be able to find someone to swap... the mk2's are desirable.

the mk3's though do come with good spec... sh1tty handling unless the suspension is sorted though!

If you do change to a mk3, you wont be disappointed, especially with the gti.

Look for the swap, one mk2 for a mk3; if your lucky, you might just get it (probs need some patience though  and money to even the trade).

Selling cars is always a hassle, but if you want a mk3, don't give up.

although most people i know who have had a mk2 8v or 16v that have swopped to a mk3 8v have been dissapointed and got bored after a bit unless there fully loaded...

bare in mind...

0-60 times

mk2 8v ... 8.7
mk2 16v... 7.5

mk3 8v... 9.9
mk3 16v... 8.0

My brother sold his mk2 8v for a mk3 8v and found himself buying a mk2 16v after 4 months of the mk3...

i have a mk3 16v which is good...

i suppose it depends whether you want to change for the modern factor of the mk3 or the fun thing...

i suppose you will have to try all

try posting a similar thread in the mk2 section.....and wait for the abuse!!

but as this is mk3 area...if you want a solid well equipped car (with pas,abs and all the other mod cons) there a great buy allthough maybe not as fun as a mk2 but with simple mods they improve greatly and i dare say as much fun as a mk2
