It sounds good with a cheep backbox, your effectivly creating a cat back exhaust system, its just that stock backboxes will make the exhaust quiet but you can here it rasp, it sounds nice to the trained ear but most people laugh at it  :smiley:   I ran a stock box with a straight through for a while but i intended to go for a full system anyway when i could afford it.

Its just sitting 70 along a motorway it will get on your nerves having a straight through, plus it will probs vibrate a bit too

i have a catback now and it doesnt vibrate, its a smooth sound, but very loud,  its not nearly as loud in the car as it is outside im glad to say.

My mate had a decat and universal huge back box on a mk5 zetec s, and it vibrated his numberplate off  :laugh:
