Replacing centre exhaust box with a pipe?

Hi folks.

Heard a rattle from under my mk3('97 16v) last night,looked underneath today at work and the bracket on my intermediate box has snapped.

The body of the silencer looks a little ragged too,so looking to replace it.

My back box is very new,just before i bought car last year,so only looking to replace the centre one,i saw a replacement pipe thing on a site somewhere,can't remember where,but basically it was a pipe with no box on it,so my question is,....

What difference does not having the box make to the performance,if any,or are there any benefits/drawbacks of installing this,if memory serves,it was only £20 odds,a lot cheaper than the original i guess.

Check this part out to replace your center box, im getting one this week, as i have the same problem.

that looks like it,but i think my mounting bracket is different,it goes out both sides at 90 degrees to the pipe,or maybe that is because it needs to support more weight with the box there?

will it change the performance do u know?

Certianly will minimise resitance, but you need a good backbox too. Athough these centerboxs you can see staight through, the center box is just to take out some of the annoying tones of the noise. It will be louder

I think i'll try one then,and if it all goes wrong go down the stainless route.

If you fit that to a stock back box it will sound like your innards are falling appart,  it usualy goes raspy and crappy sounding!  How ever, with a good back box it will sound pretty sweeeet

I got mine with a standard back box and i love the raspy noise haha.

Im guna get it with a cheap universal backbox as im skint, and go for the loud BURRRRRR noise.
