Hypothetical question - How fast could you make a mk4?

I'm not sure whether you would want to start with a mk4 1.8T, or a R32 or something.  But how powerful do you think you could make a Golf?  However the catch is it has to "look" unmodified.  You can add big wheels, any brakes etc, but it'd have to look pretty much like a normal Golf to the untrained eye

Say you were a millionaire   Thing is it would have to looklike a normal Golf, so you couldn't add bad ass aurodynamics, which is going to hold you back.  It still has to drive and corner, brake etc well.

then you could build a 1000bhp plus monster. basically a drag car with just the golf body shell remaining. Is there a point to this?
