8v gti mk3 where is the fuel filter?

Hi where is the fuel filter on the mk3 & should i only use the original part from vw?

Right beside the rear right wheel, its a cylinder about 2/3 inches across. Probably need to remove the wheel to get at it better too ;)

i was just about to ask the same question... getting serious problems from my fuel filter just now :(

just borrow a ramp...2 minutes and its off and on!!   (or bung your local trye fitter a tenner and save getting diry!)

Mine was done today on the service, he said that it had corroded to the case! doh!
