whirring noise
« on: 25 February 2008, 19:55 »
hi, tonight my car, 16v, has developed a whirring noise which seems to be coming from underneath and behind the rear seats. It varies in loudness and stops and starts. Any ideas would be most helpfull.
thanks, neil.

It'll be something fuel pump related.  How full is the tank - if its empty-ish you can sometimes hear the pump more. More likely its the lift pump in the tank wearing out making the main pump work harder (or vice versa).

Hopefully its the in-tank pump as they're only £20.
