GTI - 3door and 5door
« on: 25 February 2008, 15:49 »
Hi,

I am looking at various mrkV gti's to buy and am stuck on whether to get a 3 door or a 5 door.  I understand how a 5 door can be more practical.

Has anyone bought a 3 door and wished they had gone for the 5 door...or vice versa.  Is the 5 door seen as less sporty than the 3 door.

Thanks...

I bought 3-door. It looks more dynamic than 5-door version. I don't have family, and I do not give lifts in the backseat. Choose depending on how you want to use your car.
Do I want to change to 5-door? Heeeeeeellll no!

P.S. Welcome to the forum.
P.P.S. Buy Edition 30.
P.P.P.S Choose candy white.

I've gone for the 3 door.  The 5 door version actually looks crap IMHO.  The car loses it looks with the extra two doors.

i expect the gti doors are same to gt doors? I got a 5 door one due to the 3 door one was very heavy to open and felt to closed in.

3door, those big doors are great and make the car look way more sporty, and i people have a problem climbing into the back of my gti then they get left at the side of the road

I used to have a 3 door when I had my Mk4, flippin pain in the ar5e, made sure I got 5 door GTI, dont give a stuff about looks, 3 or 5 doors, you still put your foot down and it goes like the clappers and you dont have people scrabbling to get in and out of the back.  you know it makes sense.   :nerd:

i have a 5 door and dont regret it at all. on the 5 door all the lines look spot on but on the 3 door there is a part on the side widows that does not line up right but then again if you dont have kids or ever have anyone in the back get 3 door.
