Managed to get out in between rain today and get the car up on jacks, took old rims off, cleaned brakes and treated them to a lick of blue Hammerite and new 17 inch rims......i know, i know....they're not BBS before u all start but i reckon they look kinda cool  .....wot u think...??

last pictured was all clean and shiny  fitting exhaust next weekend and then the coilovers are going on

i am guessing they are 17" wheels but the gti brakes should all be 280 or 288mm

yes and wirebrush them if they are really bad!! use brakecleaner or even wonder wheels type stuff and then give them a rubbing over with wet and dry

yeh, i attacked them with a wire brush (careful of the rubber grommits tho) and a can of Halfords aerosol brake cleaner. then gave them a quick wash and then paint went on, only did one coat but got enough paint left to recoat 100 times over

medium size brush and small artist brush for fiddly bits......make sure u clean clean clean otherwise paint goes black/streaky if u leave any dirt/dust behind......cheap but effective mod i reckon......millions of colours to choose from in hammerite section too
