Ive just brought a L reg VR6 having sold my Mk 4 GTi Turbo.I was unsure if to or not but boy am i glad now :) .
I dont if matter what year you buy as long as you get a good one.
I drove a R reg (Last of the vr6's) Vr6 Highline with 17's on and all the extras and it just didnt feel right and overall condition was poor.
Then i saw mine :)
L 93 reg 88 k on the clock owner had only done 4 k in last 4 years, Full service history, standard 15 " BBS alloys, heated full leather, 3 small scrathes on the bodywork.
The only extra mine hasnt got is Air Con :(
I paid ?3500 and its worth every penny a credit to its last 3 owners.
So it dont matter what year you get from a K to an R reg
just look around for a well looked after one with Fsh and you wont go wrong :)
And you wait till you drive it and put ya foot down for the first time ,i was smiling all the way from swindon to leicester that my face ached for a week
Good luck in ya search m8 and let us know how you get on

CC/Cyl   BHP   MPH   0-60   MPG   CO2   IG
2792/6  174   140    7.4     28      199    16

Im going to just add a SS milltek exhaust and a K&N induction kit and that will be all :)
Theres plenty enough power to keep anyone happy trust me ;)
And as for the auto myself i prefer manual

so if you fitted a after market filter and then a full ss exhaust, would the fueling have to be altered or is the vr6 self adjusting? ::)

i would recommend, no stipulate, either air or climate. my vr has climatronic which is always on and still pulls 30+mpg. turn it off and die in the sun >:(

also watch out for frozen rear calipers :o

i have done 25,000 miles in less than 2 years and still love the car.

right i have found one,1997 on a P Plate
Is black, black leather,55000 miles,17in alloys(unmarked)new tyres, interiour is top nick and also the body work looks great....All in all the car looks fantastic, full service history, alarm, air con, electic wins, mirror, heated front seats, original vw stereo....I had not driven the car yet,am hoping to on saturday, they are asking ?6995 for it...Wot do you people think?
Is this to much cash or about right, what would be a good starting offer..
