...do the 'easy' jobs turn into a nightmare?
The starter has been a bit iffy for a while so i thought i would change it today, mistake #1 !!
I jacked up the car, supported the engine, top bolt came undone no-problem, the same with the smaller bottom bolt, no problems. The 3rd and final bolt, stuck solid. No amount of WD40 or swearing at the damn thing will shift it. Coupled with the fact you can only get a open ended spanner on it, you guessed it the f#'@ing thing is now starting to round off. So much for german engineering.
Guess its a trip to a garage on monday.

Which bolt is it, are the other two still, suggest you nip the two good ones up, give the head of the bad one a good tapping with hammer into the casing, either hammer a 1mm smaller open ender or a good set of molegrips with parallel jaws super gripped and crack it off, the tap with the hammer releases the torsion on the threads and allows the thread to turn with less friction.

sounds like the last bolt was supporting the weight.

ive been swaring at a few bolts and tools today. They just wouldnt listen!

There is 3 bolts, two 6" bolts with XYZ triple square head and a 17mm 1.5" bolt. If you have jacked the engine up then theres every reason why the last bolt would be stuck fast. Yes, the starter supports the front engine mount, but if theres any level of pressure on the last bolt - it would be a nightmare to remove.

Depending on the bolt, theres an easy way to remove it.

im only unlucky in the fact i cant find the screws for ym door card!

anyone else find that.. everytime you remvoe the door card another noe of those flush head screws around the edges go missing??

apart form that though, I now have all ym eelctric windwos working, switches on the back door fitted up and working.. needs a bloody good clean though
