door seals
« on: 22 February 2008, 18:51 »
hi,

when i drive fast i can hear wind noise coming from my passenger side door , im guessing its the seal that needs replacing as the drivers side is much quieter, if u sit in the passenger seat it feels like the door is not shut properly,

anyone know how to replace the door seal and were i can get a new seal from, its getting annoying having to drive in such a noisy car especially at high speed

Try the above first. If not then the seal is dead easy! Get it from VW Dealer, about 15 quid. Find the join and pull the old one out!
The new one just pushes in but you will need a little GENTLE persuasion around the corners, light taps with a hammer.

no mate the striker plate is where the door lock hits when you shut the door and locks it in place -goldie coloured thing on the a -pillar.

loosen the allen keys/torx screws (year dependant) on the striker plate .they have lines on them so you can see where it was move it a bit and tighten and try it again moving it in if the door sticks out and vice/versa -up and down if the door needs lifting/dropping

the door seal looks ok to me, but when i shut the door it looks like it closes as much as the door on the other side wich is fine, so maybe it is the seal,

could you make some sort of diagram for me about adjusting the stricker plate??
