AGG 8v
« on: 22 February 2008, 12:12 »
I know its been asked before but i have used the search function and cant find what im looking for.

Just want to know the capacity of my engine for oil.

So when i drain it, how much oil it wil take to fill it to how it should be.

And also, the age old question, which oil.

My cars been serviced but an old lad down the road and hes doing an mot check, but i need to supply the bits n bobs. Got it all except the oil

Cheers

Engine Oil Capacity will be quoted in your Haynes Book.

I have a 16v ABF engine.  Think my capacity is about 4.5 litres-5.0.

Last time I changed my oil, I just presumed it would be less than 4 l.  Bought a 4l tub, and had to get a mate to drive be the 20 odd miles to the Halfords again!

I've asked about oils yesterday.  Im never sure.  You never seem to get a decent response.

I bought 5litres of Mobil 10/40 semi syth For very high performance engines. Will this be enough?

Also got the halfords oil filter, was a champion one, but couldnt see the justification of the few pounds extra.....

agreed?

nothing wrong with champion (exept they make citroens o.e filters!!)... i allways use aftermarket filters and have never had problems.. and the mobil should be good oil (do you fancy changing mine while your at it??)
