quick question boys...
most of you seem to have a vag-com...
where did you all get yours? how much etc? any good?
went on ebay,,,,
pages and pages of blue ones from asia for £5/10
would you avoid them?
anyone got one?

Software is Free from VAG.com
Need the OB2 lead from ebay, around £20 for a uk seller. Make sure u get the right one for ur car.
Then u just need a laptop with usb.... and ur away.

What about obd1. my vr6 is obd 1 i think (1992) so would i not need a obd1 lead?

OBDI lead for a pre 96 mk3 yeah. You'll need to run it on a laptop that hasn't got vista. The lead will only run on Vag Com version 409.1 which isn't compatible with Vista. Tell everyone where you are and someone near with Vag Com might be willing to pop round and scan it for you for a tenner

interesting subject.
what are you able to do with the vag-com?
can you do tune ups? or does it just read fault codes
my mk3 could do with a plug-in

It allows you to read the ECU `blocks`. Like ABS and engine codes. You can see fault codes, clear them, reset service reminders, you can also play around with the tuning settings in advanced aswel as live graphs showing data such as lambda etc

think its useful to find flat spots, but if you play to much you can ruin your car. so maybe the pros should do remaps
