alrite guys  i had a cleanin sesh under me bonnet and removed a couple of breather pipes for access  but on removal they had whit gungy stuff in,  safe to say i did panic at first thinkin head gasket  but nothin in oil cap  or no dodgy stuff in expansion tank...  it dus use a lil water  but it dusnt seem to hav lost any power,  cud it just be years of condensation in there as theyv never been cleaned  or ya reckon it cud be sumat else??  any help greatly apreciated...   also my side trim/sideskirt things all fookd up so im lookin for a nice set of sideskirts  any1 got any ideas??

My Mk2 gets the same thing in its crankcase breather pipe. Its perfectly normal, and will probably burn off during a good motorway run.

Its usually caused by lots of short journeys, not getting the engine up to temp, just blow the crap out of the hoses and let the car warm up  :smiley:

i get the same on my 8v mk2. ive had it a couple of times i know the symptons now though. my car starts juddering and jolting....take that breather pipe off and the flying saucer give it a good clean with carb cleaner and its as good as new!  :grin:

mk3 golf 1.8t ,280mm front brakes rear disc conversion,coillies.

sorted cheers evry1    it did seem to hold back evry now and then wen i gave it full pedal off a roundabout  it was like it was real cold runnin on choke  but it was warm  if ya kno wat i meen,,  anyway  yea cheers again  put my mind to ease
