'show cages'
« on: 21 February 2008, 17:25 »
are these any good? dont really fancy taking out the back seats etc for a full cage, thought this might be a good option? the gti is going to be lowered 40/50mm ... would it be a waste of time putting a cage in as its lowered?

thanks

Maybe i'm being thick here, but what relevance is the car being lowered to having a show cage?

If you're planning on rolling the car then surely a proper cage would be more suitable than a show cage?

 What he said. Cage will make no structural difference to your car as it is a show cage, does exactly what it says on the tin. Cages are designed to a) make your chassis a bit more rigid, and 2) stop the car caving in on you in a crash. Lowering makes no difference to either of these tihngs.

if it doesnt offer any structural benefits il forget it :)

would you reccomend front and rear strut braces?

Never driven a car with them personally so can't say, but i wouldn't hestitate to recommend a set of Eibach anti-roll bars to anyone! The difference they make is immense

Show cages are worse in a crash than nothing at all. Hence being called ''show''.
