Coloured HT leads/ariel question
« on: 21 February 2008, 14:57 »
Howdy-ho!

Just after a little bit of help.

One of my mates has a Seat Ibiza GTi.  Same engine as my 16v (ABF).  I see that he's got red ht leads, and they look the buisness!

Tried to get something on ebay.  Found this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-GTI-2-0-16v-mk3-Magnecor-KV85-leads_W0QQitemZ270114409579QQihZ017QQcategoryZ72205QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQ_trksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem

Was wondering if these are HT leads or something else.

Also, I have a front wing on a 8v I think.  It's got an ariel mounted on it which I want out.  Ive bought a blank, but was wondering what I need to do to remove it.

I can pull it loose but it gets stuck and doesn't lift right out its hole.  Do I need to remove my wing/inside panel??

They are a bit pricey!

I thought e-bay would be flooded with coloured leads.  I'll have a shot at heat shrinking, but it'll no doubt balls it up, and it'll end up looking like a scrotum.

But those leads are the DOGS  for performance wise.

Best advice for HT leads is buy standard VW parts.
These so called performance leads dont do a thing!

If you want pretty colours then go buy some heatshrink tubing.

could b fiddly,bt worth a shot.......
im sure the rubber ends on ht leads pull off,so its just bin careful sliding heatshrink over the metal ends on the leads, and if you make em 2 long to take into account the shrinkin when u warm em up obviously,
then leave an overlap onto metal so when you put rubber ends back on theyl cover the join n itl look well neat!
youve gt me thinkin now, tempted to hav a go myself!lol!

Not sure.  I haven't tried anything.

Just wanted to see if anyone knows for sure before I hack my thing to bits.
