Vw in edinburgh are known to offer maps from a 3rd party co. when purchasing new Vw's.
In Scotland at the moment you have Revo from Drivers in Glasgow, no r/road to confirm your new power increase another revo dealer in aberdeen same again, Custom code agent in Glasgow i believe and APR in the central belt somewhere.Star performance in Fife with GIAC and they have a r/r.the later i have used and can recommend them.

Your warranty will be void if you tell the dealer its remapped

....Not true!

I discussed my intention to remap with my VW dealer BEFORE I did so. They have no problem about it and I switch my Revo Stage1 to Stock map when my dealer is going to service my car. Revo recieve ECU updates directly from VW within days of the VW dealer getting the info. My Revo tuner had the last VW update before my dealer knew of it!

Your warranty will only be void if the remap is found to be a direct cause of an issue.

Hi There

Ive got the standard car with a Revo Switchable remap. By that it means you have a little control unit with you can plug into the cars OBD  Diagnostic port which is a socket underneath the dash near to the bonnet release catch.

My experience with the Remap has been excellent. The power delivery is silky smooth very linear - theres no peaking unlike previous remaps on M4 Golfs and TT'S ive had. When its switched on it just feels like its an oem drive - not driven an ED30 but I expect its very much similar to a stock ED30.

I normally drive in standard mode at 30-35mpg average - in remap ill get 29-32mpg average.

It transforms the car from being mildly quick to be quite rapid particulaly in 3-5th gears. The extra power on the move seems to settle the car more so than in standard tune. Its weird but the car seems to handle better with the remap on. Best way I can describe is that it feels right.

For me the benefits of this are that I can switch the car to suit my mood and journey type eg country roads = remap  - motorway standard. You can adjust for different fuel types 95/98 ron. Theres a imobilising feature. You adjust when you take it back to the dealer and makes it very versatile.

Id very much reccomend this product for the MK5

Hope this helps

Cheers

Yanek

Your dealer must be different because i've just been told by my dealer if my car is remaped the warranty's void.

....If your dealer is saying that no matter what warranty issue arises (a failed headlight unit or a faulty door lock, for example), your whole warranty is null and void because your ECU is remapped, he is seriously out of order and not even legally within his rights as I understand the law.

That's an outrageous attitude and if it was me I would go to a better VW dealer immediately.

I posed the remap/warranty question to the Service Manager at the Leamington VW dealer today and he advised that as long as it was a sensible remap eg. 20% power increase then all warranty work would still be covered.

The only exception would be the ECU itself if it developed a fault as a result of the work the re-mappers had done.

I thought this was a pretty fair response.

I've just had a ECU replaced by VW,all they kept saying was have you had your car remapped.

And have you?

Its my understanding that they cannot identify a remap unless they actually put it on a rolling road and see obvious power gains, so maybe thats why they kept asking the question rather than establishing it for themselves.

True, they were wanting me to say it had been mapped,as the ECU costs £800 for the part only.
