This is getting STUPID!!!

The econonmy on my GTi is better than my 1.4!!! Seriously!

I have carefully logged what i put in and how many miles it do etc.. And i have recorded 4 diffrent results  ALL i have been 20MPG or LESS!!!!!  on a 1.4??? 

I need to get it sorted,  im down on power a little as well.  I have done the usual checks but nothing helps,   any ideas what it could be?  Its the later MPI engine by the way...

Simply put. . . Its a big car with a small engine, The economy won't ever be great from what I've read but 20mpg or less sounds bad, id check the inlet and exhaust first of all. . . clean out the throttle body, check the exhaust for leaks. . . errr a good service wouldn't hurt I imagine. Or have you already tried all that?

Haha, having just read your post in the mileage thread. . . Your engines on 200k odd. .  have you given it a compression test, it's certainly getting on a bit
