1994 MK3 Engine problems :S
« on: 18 February 2008, 21:14 »
When left idle it seems to chug for a while then kinda like an uneasy rumble and sounds like something is loose and rattling around. under the bonnet.

I know very little about the mechanical side of cars so numpty language please? or price and an FAQ would be great :P lol

Exactly what i was thinking.

Have you got a cone air filter, if the washers were not done up on the nuts, they can come loose and hit the alternator, making a wrattle uner the bonnet, if not, just give everything a once over and see if you can find anything loose....

Theres nothing that could possible be draining the batt.

Yea i thought it might have had something to do with the alternator.

Anyone thoughts on price? and difficulty in fitting?

go to a motor shop for an alty test!!! they should tell you if its working ok or it'll be £60 for a new alty and about 3 bolts to sort & 10 minutes to fit
and it is possible something is draining the battery..dodgy light, radio even the central locking pump!!
