16v down pipe
« on: 18 February 2008, 11:28 »
Hi people is there a down pipe you can use on the 16v without the muffler in it (possibly from another model or year) – there’s one here that needs replacing and we don’t want to replace the old one for the same part if at all possible (4 mufflers in one system seems a little excessive), would like to source it from the VW parts bin (for fitment reasons really) but will consider anything and everything.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers max

not as std no, dont worry about it too much though it offers no real restriction to the system, its not even a silencer afaik, just a resonator

Alright then - just noticed you live in Bracknell, just down the road, do you know Debo by any chance?

If you really didn't want the box could a g60 downpipe be used with a decat pipe at the bottom?

Oh really, just to clarify a g60 down pipe will fit the 16v manifold and mate up to the Scorpion system that’s already installed.

Any suggestions on where to get one as well, main stealer, gsf?

Cheers guys this has been quite handy.

the G60 downpipe will fit the 16v manifold, but you are left with a hole where the cat should go.  Get a G60 cat bypass pipe and it should mate up to the rest of the system, providing something hasn't been modified in some way.  The G60/16v front silencer part number is the same :)

Cheers man – don’t suppose you know of anyone that makes the bypass pipe do you?

Just spoke to the “Main Stealer” and they want near on £400 for the corrado (i.e. right hand drive) g60 downpipe – ouch – a 4 branch is cheaper than that!

Thanks again

Max
