mk3 power steering help

how do you adjust the power steering belt? i had a look underneath and its loose. i couldnt find how to adjust it. please help.

theres a few bolts that u slacken 1st a 16mm bolt and 2 13mm bolts and then use a 22 mm spanner adjust the belt and the tighten bolt in the middle off 22mm and then tighten the rest -job done

mk3 golf 1.8t ,280mm front brakes rear disc conversion,coillies.

where are these bolts? do you need a 22mm socket or spanner? thanks saul!

has anyone got a diagram lol?

haha ,16mm bolt is located above the pas pump pulley and theres a 13mm bolt under the pulley holding pas pump to the bracket and theres a 13mm bolt on the back holding it in .13mm bolt in the center off the 22mm adjust nut.undo this to adjust all the bolts need to slackened off .they dont need to be completly removed -can get any pics up off it .get urself an haynes manual lol

ignore this mate its for the 8 valvers , 16v have a self tensioning tensioner on em. replace the belt if its loose.and maybe the tensioner is seized if its really loose.

not if the spring is worn ,if its seized try some wd40 on it and move forward and backwards,only thing you can do is try

can i push the pulley back by hand? is that how you change the belt too, just push it back, take it off and replace? ill have a look tomorrow.
