MK1 DASH SWAP
« on: 01 April 2004, 22:38 »
ok i have decided im putting a mk4 polo dash in my mk1 sometime soon (after we have moved) but i have 1 problem, the imobiliser is one of those old ones where u put a key type thing in a hole, and thiis is cut into my dash so i cant save it, so what i want to know is can i just disconnect the immobiliser? or will i have to get some1 to do it?

And finally any1 got any links to sites on people who have already done this dash conversion?

I swapped my alarm and immobiliser form my first mk1 to my new one. It never worked probably again. :(

I have a mate who's an electrician, we managed to get the immobiliser to work but the alarm goes off but without the siren.

I think its best left to the professionals or at least someone who has a background in alarm systems.

mK 4 POLO dash would be sweet! i dont see why if your immobniliser was removed carefully it wouldnt work again, thay arent '1 car specific' are they?

nah but depending on the model, unless you label everything proplery when removing they're impossible to fit.

most come with all black wires with tags saying what they're for on, they chop those off during fitting so they alarm wiring is just an unknown black mess.. a kind of stealthing procedure :)
Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

If you go ahead with Vixters dash swap, can you post some detailed pics, etc, as its something I have thought about for a long time, but would rather know a little more about it first.
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture
