Unloved GTI's?
« on: 01 April 2004, 22:18 »
After having fun working on my car with richandhazel and GolfVR6 on wednesday we thought, with it being such a lovely day, that a spell in the beer garden was in order so we went to the pub.

Its amazing what you see at the boozer.

First we clocked eyes on this tucked away in the corner of the pub carpark.

Whilst looking that over we looked round the fence in the right of the picture.

And clocked eyes on this.

Rich obviously not having enough cars already has enquired about them and they belong to a local mechanic who is intending to restore them and sell them on.

We will keep you posted.

Anyone else come across unloved GTI's?

Marcus and I found another abandoned mk1 today.........as well :o
It was parked in the Badshot Lea garden centre car park........resprayed with completely smoothed tailgate (no wiper or tailgate lock). Looked really good, wish I'd had my digital camera.

Whats a bit weird about those two GTIs is that the guy intends to restore them, but hasnt bothered covering them.

Whats more the white one had obviously been there for a while as it was covered in green mould. Thats why I left my name and phone number...........I don't think he will ever get around to them

I know of another unloved Mk1, its sat in my garage right now awaiting either track day destruction or renovation. Hope it comes through the former and ends up with the later ;)

Yeah and the inside was covered in mould.

I dont think he will do anything with them.

Shame to see them go to waste.

'Its amazing what you see at the boozer.'

Then we betted on how many times the bonnet on a Nissan would be opened.  ;D  :P  ;)

If it had been a VW we would have been straight over to offer assistance.

I told Marcus about our bets and how unimpressed with us you were. Pleased to say the Micra wasn't still there today ;)
