  • I'm kind of a big deal...
I'm having real trouble finding a mk4 GT TDI at the moment, so am considering buying a mk4 1.8T GTi instead.  What kind of mileage would you class as reasonable for a 7 or 8 year old model?  Would 80k be fair, too high?

How many miles are the GTi's usually good for?

Thanks!

80000 is fair for the age TBH. Average is 12K a year.

My 1.8T (also a 2000 plate) has 115k and drives like new tho i have owned it since 62000 and always had regular services done (every 6000!!)

Ive heard of 1.8T's having 130k on the same turbo! Ive just had my first fault with the engine- a thermostat cost £16!!! :afro:

No probs mate. The 1.8T can suffer from coilpacks being faulty

Cheers Rich,

Btw, do you have the 150bhp or 180bhp model?
