are all mk 2 golf rear beams the same?
« on: 16 February 2008, 09:34 »
Hi all, my Dad's managed to bend the rear beam on the golf so now i'm on the hunt for a new one. Our car is a mk2 16v, do i need a 16v rear beam or will a beam of any mk 2 fit? Is there any differences like beam thickness or will the disc brakes bolt onto the drum set up?

cheers

I think you will need a 16v rear beam, from what I have read.
Passat B5.5 2.3 V5 170, with all the extras.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

8v gti rear beam is identical
edit: ideally you want a GTI beam due to the integral ARB.  You can still fit a drum one if you like, but you'll loose the arb, plus you'll have to swap the brake bias valve bracket from the old beam to the new one.
