valentines present from the wife
« on: 14 February 2008, 22:31 »
Got a phone call from her whilst i was at work,

told me she'd driven our GTI a bit far into a parking space and slightly scraped the bottom of the front bumper,

well low and behold when i got home if she hadnt managed to rip the front splitter off!

apparantly she though it was supposed to look like that, yeah right, great liars women eh?

Only had the car a week!

anyway i managed to push it back into place but its a bit twisted at one end, also the main front bumper is a bit scratched.

Can anyone give me any idea of the cost of a new front splitter on a mk5 GTI? and also maybe the part no?

Can anyone give any recommendations as to how i can try and repair the scratches on the black plastic part of the front bumper?

thanks for the help.

if i remember correctly that front lip spoiler is around £150-200. I dont think they do just the spoiler, you'd have to get the whole bottom strip (which includes the plastic bits around the spoiler).

Its a shame its already bruised after a week

I think I've got it right, they are extracts from an ETKA.

1k0 807 110        Description is down as "Spoiler, front lower"   GTI/GT
Give this to the dealer and see what they think it is..

The indicated price is around £30 - £40. (The price may have come down Maxamus or I'm totally wrong) The ed30 front spoiler is £325, then you have to get it sprayed.

As for the scratches, I need some advise myself as I have a couple on the front

RE: Scratches...

Ge the car sent in to be detailed. Its crazy what those guys can do to get rid of scratches. I saw a guy polish out a scratch on a Brand new Audi R8 and it was on the edge of the bodywork too.

If you dont believe me then look on detailing world. Im sure they can sort the marks out.

As for the bumper I cant help. Unless you wanna import a bumper from South Africa  :undecided:.

You own a German Built Golf. What honestly makes you think replacing a part is as simple as just- Clipping it off

......Just joking btw.
