pretty much the same as long as you maintain the service intervals and use the correct spec of oil; very crucial as the 150 and 130 can and have been prone to premature cam wear.

ideally you do time and distance oil changes and use longlife oil - apparently its better for remapped cars

Custom code for me too.

i read it gave the best throughout the rev range. Though as mine is a N/A it appears to give the most benefit on bottom end torque.

Would you say it was worth it for the mk4 2.0ltr 8v?

Im considering doing it but will it void my warrantyas i have only just got the car from main dealer?

imo it was worth it. Low end torque is greatly improved (nothing compared to turbo models though, but thats a different ball game)

If your after driveability as a pose to outright BHP then go for it.

It also cured my cold starting problem.

with the right exhaust and induction kit custom code say u can get 140 bhp outta the 2.0L: this is from there site.

All of the above is correct.

Ring them again and ask about the mobile unit. they came to my place of work to do mine.

Yeah sounds good that mate  But dont forget your insurance will go up with a remap put that to the cost of the remap- thats a fair bit of money.

Like you say tho mat if you a keeping the car then why not

Yes, that custom code does seem expensive.

It's weird that chipped-uk do all the GTi's (& TDi's), bar the 2.0 8v?!

Hi!

Have you called Jayson at chippeduk? I know he is a expert with the Bosch management systems.  I think he can also do the Siemens ECU in the 2.0 8v.  He uses the same Optican tool as we do which excludes the 2.0 8v ecus.  The ecu can be emulated direct to PCB, then once the remap file is produced it can be written direct to the eeprom.  I know other companies have tools which will do the 2.0 8v via OBD.
  I spent hours on my sister inlaws GTI Cab 2.0 8v and could not push any more than 10bhp 12NM max.  The power alone was not really noticable but applied with the rest of the setting in the remap the car feltl much sharper  and smoother. 
 We dont do the 2.0 8v remaps as it take too long to do for so little power gains. Custom Code will have a stock of generic remap files which will suite all of the hardware and software version out there for the 2.0 8v.  If Custom Code have spent a lot of time on R&D whith there files then the price will reflect this.

In Fact just to ad to this.  There is an option for a mk4 2.0. 8v with a Bosch ME7 ecu which is much the same as the ME7.5 in the 1.8t, but I have only ever come across siemen ecus

The bloke said that they are doing a promotion and will remap it the 2.0ltr for 287 quid.

Sounds pretty resonable to me.

He said that i will see a 10% increase in torque and bhp.

Think that was stage one though
