Hi,  although i have a mk 5 R32 go for it jonny!! They are an awesome bit of kit.The 4wd is awesome, the noise is unreal, and believe you me you get a lot more respect in a R32.People seem to have a lot more intrest in a 32.
Fair comment people say remap this, chip that, and a turbo,d engine will be faster but that V6 is a peach extremely smooth and very civilised putting its power down.
The fuel issue isnt an issue in my opinion, i do approx 10000 miles a year and they ant as thirsty as people think,At the end of the day if you run a performance car you cant run it on a shoestring. When i first got mine i was driving home at 55 mph crapping myself about mpg but honestly you,l get by.
I,m on my second MK V R32 so ok i am biased but having also owned a MK5 GTI i,l never go back to a turbo.
Also smeone mentioned a e46 M3 earlier in the thread! I actually traded a 05 plate e46 m3 in for my current R32 so i have had the best of all worlds.
M3 equals awesome car very quick but totally rock hard ride f***ing scary in the wet, a fortune to maintain and the build quality was no where near as good as my golf.

As the salesmen who sold me my first 32 said " YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE GO FOR IT"
JONNY GOO FOR IT!!
Chrissy.

Thanks very much for your reply. My mind was pretty much made up as im sure you gathered! Bad news though im afraid. look in the 'nonsense' thread and find my recent post. the bar steward insurance company are messing me about and it doesnt look like im gonna be able to get it until around may/june when my policy ends. I got my hopes up too as it said i could be insured online

A very disappointed Jon

Dont panic mate,
Just wait the for the right car to come along, and it will. The good thing about 32,s is they hold thier value extremlely well as i,m sure you know.Sit tight and shop around till you get your insurance sorted, you wont be dissapointed.
Sometimes you have to be patient but set your mind to it and it will happen.More people have commented on my32,s than all my other cars and i,ve had a few in my time, they seem to have a respect factor you dont get in many other cars, very subtle, not overstyled and excellent "Q" car appeal. The sort of car that only people"in the know" know what it is.
Give me a 32 over a jap ricer piece of sh!t anyday!Hope you get one anyway mate, dont give up. The knockers who tell you dont do it are only jealous!!!

how uneconomical can an R32 be?

Well, one of my best mates has an R32, he reckons 17mpg average city driving, 30ish motorway & he's got it as low as 6.5mpg thrashing it.......
