The best thing to do with a Mk3 8v?
« on: 01 April 2004, 10:49 »
Been meaning to put these up for ages, so here goes. Such a shame she was a minter before hand! Still can't understand how they wrote her off, doesn't look like much damage was done from the pics.

And the moral is in icy conditions even if you think you're doing a sensible speed, you may well still be going too fast!

poor thing.

It'll be a write off cos that to me looks like it'll cost to much to repair with regard to how much the car costs.

The paintwork looks in good condition...

btw - how'd u know its an 8v? did U take a look around the car at the time? cos its not noticable from the pics as to whether its a 8v or 16v.... they both look the same.

It was mint, took me ages to find it, the insurance company got 2 quotes both in the ?3500 - ?4000 region to repair the car, car was twisted apparently, the drivers door was wedged shut as a result. I only paid ?3200 for it about 5 weeks before hand!

erm I didnt know it was his car!  :P ::)

?3500-?4000 is about right for a '97 immaculate 8v mk3 with 70,000 miles or under.

Lol, yeah was my car, stuffed it in a ditch on the 6th Jan this year!

BTW if anyone lives near Basildon it's at a salvage yard down there, bit p1ssed off that they took it there as I was going to have loads of stuff off it, like the 4 reasonably new tyres the previous owner had just put on!

I saw the error of my ways and tracked down a mint 16v now drive that instead! The only thing I prefer about the 8v was that it had aircon!
