Recommended suspension setup? (mk2 8v)
« on: 01 April 2004, 10:19 »
I've become increasingly sick of my golf making me sea sick, rolling side to side on each and every corner making the wheels catch the rear arches so I've decided to uprate my suspension.

What setups would you guys/gals recommend, what prices should I be expecting and where would I buy the kit? It's a 1988 1.8 8v Gti (3 door).

Thanks in advance

Ian

Eibach Springs & Koni shocks coupled together with Eibach ARB's and you'll be laughing

Well I got a little bit of cash which I *could* spend so was thinking something more like coilovers.  Something with ride height/stiffness adjustment.

Anymore recommendations?

Regards

Ian

I've got a SPAX adjustable kit and matching springs on mine ... it's not ride hieght adjustable but do you really need it?

Set the buggers to 'rigid' and the car just doesn't move - I'm extremely pleased with the handling and the quality, plus it was just over ?300 so cheaper than the Koni + Eibach Setup.

Check out http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ for SPAX stuff - rather cheap !!!

I run Avo coilovers. Like said ive set the damping quite hard so theres not much movement and you can get your car at just the height you want it. Mine were ?495. But worth every penny imo.

I am using the FK Konigsports on the Mk2. They are fantastic and provide a very solid ride. At ?630 they cost a bit but with Koni inserts they are well worth it.

What about opinions on best places to buy from.  I live in Bradford, West Yorkshire if there's anything local.

Thanks again

I'm with gambit on this one.

I got Eibach springs and Koni top adjustables all round and it goes like a go kart but is nice over bumps and rough ground.
