« on: 09 February 2008, 19:28 »
Hi does anyoneknow what kind of power increase I'd get from a first stage remap on my GT TDI 150? I've been recomended using custom-code checked out the site and the prices seem fair so think I'll use them what do you guys think?

looking at 180 to 190bhp for a stage 1

Deffo go for Custom Code! got 30% off at the mo so a stage one will set you back £312 :afro:

had it done about a month ago on my 130 and the difference is unbelievable; pulls all through the rev range and MPG is unaffected, unless i floor it lol

What difference would a remap make to the insurance premium do you think? I thought about doing this without telling them but I have been relaibly informed loss adjusters check for this first!! they are wise to this!!

all depends who you are insured with, age etc; think mine went up by about £80 as i'm nearing the end of my policy

Hi!

200+BHP is poss and has been done but like Rhyso said there might loads of back soot you will have to live with. With the TDI pd it’s not all about the BHP, the PDs selling point is the huge amount of torque it can offer.

A 200+bhp remap can compromise, torque and put lots of stress on the turbo and clutch., once rolling at speed it will be a beast to drive. Ok for track days and sprints etc..

A remap to 180 / 184bhp will give the best of both worlds max bhp and torque to match while allowing the engine to be at its most efficient.

A well balanced remap will allow the fuel to be burnt off and the correct ratio with the turbo boost, so no plumes of black smoke.
