Dragging Rear Calliper on Mk3 GTI 8v?
« on: 09 February 2008, 12:09 »
Hi everyone - I'm new to the site but want a little bit of help. Just had my rear discs & pads replaced on my 96 MK3 GTi and I get the occasional squeak from the LHS (usually when I go round Rght hand bends). It sounds as though the calliper is either sticking or the handbrake might need adjusting on that side. I'm relatively mechanically minded, but at the moment I'm leaving garage work to mechanics as I've got a torn shoulder tendon which kind of restricts movement...

I'd be grateful of any advice.

Cheers to all

you will need to unwind the caliper a few times and clean it to free it up..mines the same!!

If its the handbrake mech sticking a little (like mine did), just cover it in WD40 and wiggle the lever on the caliper up and down, but it needs a lot of wiggling...
