Failed MOT on a CAT

Failed the MOT today on the exhaust emmissions. They wasn't getting a reading on idle, but they did when the revved it to hell.
They reckon the problem is the cat and they are charging £325 for replacement.
Is this price reasonable for a 2.0 16v 1997?
But if its not the cat do you think I can get them to put the old one back on and carry on finding the cause

Sure that for that money you could get a high flow sports cat, thats what i'd do.....cant you get a second hand cat first and have em swap it and see if that makes a difference?

It'll be the lambda probe rather than the cat, take it somewhere else.

dont be mugged, go to another garage, and get the real verdict! Even if its not the sensor, get a sports cat, and feel the love!
