Hi all, although new to this forum i am far from new to golfs. In my yoof i went through 4 mk2s followed by a corrado vr6 (auto for my sins sorry) golf mk3 vr6, passat vr6 (remember them?) and of late have been tooling around in a number of various mk4 golfs, the latest cars are because for a living i am a car dealer, small scale from home having spent 10 years in the motor trade, and have been concentrating on mk4 gtis with some success.
Anyway i recently picked up a mk2 with 40k (you may have seen it in the is yours the lowest mileage mk2 poll) and the plan was to sell it on, but i drove it home remembered that engine sound, exhaust note, the simple leds for all the warning lights, keeping an eye on the oil temperature, and the throttle pedal which has different levels of go depending how hard/low you push it (anyone driving a modern car will know what i am on about) and fell in love all over again !! I though sod it i am gonna keep it , after all i am 32 now and the mid life crisis looms so thought now was the time to enjoy something for myself which would relight those memories of my early twenties.........
but .................
A couple of people on this site have commented that early mk2s with small bumpers in good nick should stay that way, but that was not what i had in mind. I fancied big bumpers, caddy panel in the rear lowered suspension, 90 spec kit with g60 arches, and oh so much more, you know how it is!! Sorry rambling on a bit, but wanted to know what other people thought, as i am now thinking of off loading the golf and buying either a ready made modded car or a slightly high mileage one with the potential to tweak/finish off into the car i remember from my twenties as i just dont think i will keep the car standard. I still have the urge to make it like i remember, and looking through the post " pictures of your car " (a sticky thread up top of page) i just know thats what i am gonna do!!
So what do you think, you guys appear to have some useful stuff to say, so get saying it!!!!!
Thanks for now, lets see where i go from here.
